SORRY – 28 JUNE 2022 – SOLD – CHECK JUST DEPOSITED IN BANK
Following a call on 10 June 2022 from an interested party in Florida about my original 1965 Airstream Caravel for sale, to further illustrate and describe the “hiccups” I mentioned to him, I created this page as a supplement to the main page – 1965 AIRSTREAM CARAVEL – FOR SALE – ORIGINAL. The items that need to be rectified (besides the wheel bearing / axle issue) are shown here to bring this treasure back to original functioning. To my knowledge the water, heating system, or stove have not been used since 2014 – thus no guarantees on those. I have had the original propane tanks inspected and certified however. A new mount for those tanks must be installed, and a mount for the new mounted spare tire.
The images below show the underneath for the plumbing work to do, and what was probably a leak in a water line from the storage tank, and the affect it had on two storage doors and the veneer at the end of one couch/bunk.
First, these images are underneath the rear as we have it taken apart to be reworked back to original. Note the good condition of the original floor. The sheet metal you see on the ground are the panels pulled for access. Best for use as templates.
Below the toilet area with the toilet pulled.
and, just forward to the above, the closet with the water connections.
Note here – the open lines connect to the toilet. But see the line to the forward water tank that has been taped. I believe this was a spot that leaked, and caused the problem shown next. Yes, on the floor is the original tile.
That area taped as shown in the closet above, was probably a leak that caused water damage to two doors, and the veneer at the end of the side bunk. Those two doors should be redone to match the original, and the end piece should be easy as well to replicate.
These are the “hiccups” as I described on the phone to Mike in Florida. If anyone has any additional questions, please call me, and I will discuss, and illustrate here – thank you, RAY

and, again, the only reason I am parting with my Airstream – I found a lovely 1959 FAN Sportsmans Friend. Pinch me so I know I am awake.
