BARRETT HOUSE — THE GRAFTON INN — VERMONT

This morning I had a great time, with my timing (as often is the case) perfect. After my haircut in Bellows Falls my plan was to head to Grafton and talk to Emily or Dorothy about our upcoming stay 11, 12 and 13 March. Arriving at 9 am I found Karen at the desk — they open up later in the “off season” and she was covering the front desk, and will be there next week as well. Ends up a fascinating retired professor from Arizona, legal studies, many books, and has lived in Walpole a few years now. We will have to talk to her more.

I wanted to confirm the pull out sofa for Alex to see if it will work. Karen talked about two chair/coaches upstairs that open up, or they could bring in an inflatable bed. But, as Ray’s timing again worked out, the housekeeper came up (Sheena – hope I am spelling correctly). She confirmed what I read about a fold-out couch, AND, saying she was heading over for cleaning, Ray asked, “may I come take a look?” And I followed her across the street.

To orient you to Grafton, coming into town from Saxtons River this is the view coming up the small hill just past the fire house, library, and general store (with lunches – stopped many time in BLUE BELLE). Barrett House on left, Inn on the right – Phelps Barn Pub (for dinner) in center of image. Dining Room in Inn closed during this off time – same menu in the barn. My images maybe clicked for larger size.

Below looking back to “main drag” – red building is Town Hall and post office. You can see where we will park outside the door in the “L” coming off to the right – that enters into the kitchen if I remember correctly.

and, looking back at the barn and Inn from across the street — really all ideal and “perfect” — and then I went inside — WOW — Alex, it is a “grandpa type of place” which I believe you will enjoy.

Here is a link to the page this Inn has for the Barrett House detailing the amenities and almost all the rooms — SO CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE PAGE.

But in the gallery below (you can click image to enlarge) is the downstairs room with the fold-out couch. Alex I think you will like this and it is off by itself so like having your own room. We will be enjoying the large living room on the other side of the downstairs. And, then is one of the bedrooms.

And, before I forget to tell you, down the road is Grafton’s Ski Trails for Cross-Country — Cathy and I the first two years we were here had season passes. Check out the link above. WOW, I just scrolled down the page – and copied this — Trail Fee Applies & Ski Rentals Available
Complimentary for Grafton Inn Guests

We will chat before hand — so excited — thank you for joining me, Love, DAD, RAY, GRANDPA
